Western Region has registered two wins under Group A to advance to the semi-final of the 1st Prime Minister Cup Cricket Tournament.
In its third match held at TU Cricket Ground on Thursday, June 1, 2017, Western Region beat Mi-Western Region by nine wickets to secure semis berth. It had thrashed Central Region by 95 runs on Wednesday while it lost to Armed Police Force by 16 runs in its inaugural match on Monday.
Western Region packed Mid-West just to 62 runs in 23 overs as Bipin Khatri and Lal Adhikari claimed four wickets each and Krishna Karki took two wickets for winner. Khatri was also announced the player of the match.
None of the batmen could stand long against the mighty bowlers of Western Region. Only three batsmen including Shubhendu Pandey, Rajbir Singh and Amar Singh Rautela could make 13 runs each.
Western Region easily chased down the target in 11.1 overs scoring 66 runs for the loss of a wicket. Anil Gurung made 23 runs, Saurav Khanal 20 runs and Nurdhoj Sen 19 runs. Rautela took a wicket for Mid-West.
Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club have already entered the semis as Group B winner and runner-up respectively.
Group A - Armed Police Force (APF), Western Region, Central Region, Mid-western Region
Group B - Tribhuvan Army Club, Eastern Region, Far-western Region, Nepal Police Club
The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 2 million while the runner-up will get Rs 1 million. Similarly, the two semi-finalists will receive Rs 50,000 each.
The man of the series will be awarded with Rs 100,000 while best batsman and bowler will get Rs 50,000 each. Likewise, the emerging player will get Rs 25,000 while man-of-the-match will be given Rs 5,000 in every match.
