The international donors have pledged US$4.4 billion for the rebuilding and reconstruction purpose during the International Conference on Nepal’s Reconstruction (ICNR) held in Kathmandu on Thursday, June 25, 2015.
The international partners have committed such succor in order to recover the damages from the devastating Earthquake of April 25, 2015.
Speaking to the media, Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat said that the assistance from the donor agencies was more than expected. The government had expected only around US$3 billion from the conference.
Meanwhile, the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) estimates the need of US$6.7 billion for the reconstruction and recovery purpose.
The neighbouring nations India and China have pledged US$1 billion and RMB4.7 billion (US$480 million), respectively.
The conference was attended by around 300 representatives from different countries.
The devastating Earthquake killed over 8,000 people in Nepal.
