The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has unveiled the final squad for the 1st SAFF U-19 Championship on Sunday, August 16, 2015.
The governing body of football in Nepal announced a 23-member team under the captainship of Bimal Gharti Magar for the Championship that is scheduled to be held from August 20 to 29 in Kathmandu.
The squad comprises of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven mid-fielders and five forwards, according to the ANFA.
Goalkeepers: Sojit Gurung, Roman Rasaili and Devraj Limbu.
Defenders: Ananta Tamang, Amit Tamang, Tchiring Gurung, Akasha Thapa, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Sudan Thapa, Gaurav Budhathoki and Kamal Shrestha.
Mid-fielders: Hemanta Thapa Magar, Dona Thapa, Tej Tamang, Kiran Sunar, Bishwash Shrestha, Shussan Lama and Sunil Bal.
Forwards: Bimal Gharti Magar, Anjan Bista, Sujit Gurung, Shiva Subedi and Janom Man Ligal.
Of the total 23-player, five of them including Anjan, Bishwash, Ananta, Hemanta and Bimal Gharti – are also in the senior national team announced on Saturday. The national team is also scheduled to play friendly match against India on August 31 in Pune, India.
Bal Gopal Maharjan is the head coach of the team while Sunil Shrestha is the coach, Mrigendra Mishra goalkeeper coach and Diwakar Ghale the team manager.
Altogether six team including Group A - Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan – Group B - Maldives, India and Afghanistan will compete in the Championship.
Nepal will take on Bhutan in its first group stage match on August 24.
