Deepak Bista, a taekwondo player and coach, has announced his retirement from the sports person amidst a function in Kathmandu on Saturday, January 31, 2015.
Bista had won two bronze medals at the Asian Games and won four gold medals at the South Asian Games.
Bista is the second Nepali taekwondo player to participate in the Olympic after Sangina Vaidya.
Minister for Commerce and Supplies Sunil Bahadur Thapa honoured Bista with a car. Kush Kumar Joshi, Mahato Foundation, Lekh Bhatta, Sunil Bhusal, Amar Bahadur Shahi, Deepak Bhatta, Rajendra Bhatta and Megh KC had financed the car.
Similarly, Himalayan Dental Hospital also provided him a lifelong free checkup to Bista.
