Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) Chandra Kala Thapa and Armed Police Force (APF) Sulav Thapa Magar are set to vie for the title of the ongoing Bir Ganeshman National Boxing Championship 2019.
In the Women’s 54-57kg semi-finals held at Basantapur Dabali in Kathmandu on Thursday, February 7, 2019, Chandra Kala beat Province 7 Nirmala KC and Sulav Magar defeated Province 3 Kusum Tamang to make it to the final berth.
In the Women’s 60-64kg category semis, Army’s Punam Rawal won over Aparajita Ghotane of Province 2 and APF’s Saraswoti Rana defeated Asmita Chand of Province 6.
Similarly, Sangita Sunar of APF d Army’s Sabina Shrestha will take on each other in the final of Women’s 57-60kg category. Sunar thrashed Sangita Dangal of Province 5 while Shrestha beat Province 1 Som Maya Limbu in the semis.
TAC’s Minu Gurung and Police’s Nisha Tamang have also advanced to the final of Women’s 51-54kg category, as Gurung secured a victory over Teji Gurung of Province 2 and Tamang defeated APF’s Sanju Maya Thing.
In 46-48kg semis, Police’s Diwan Sherma overcame Army’s Lalita Maharjan and Province 5 Sushila Thapa slashed Province 3 Sushma Tamang in walkover.
Nepal Army’s Suresh Nepali, Nepal Police’s Bhupendra Thapa, APF’s Sonam Sarki and Province 6 Indra Sunar have entered the semi-final of Men’s 64kg while Army’s Bishnu Prasad Ghale, APF’s Bikash Lama, Province 1 Rajesh Gurung and Province 3 Manish Dangol made it to the last four in Men’s 69kg.
The winners of each weight category will bag Rs 25,000 each while runner-ups will get Rs 15,000 each and third place will receive Rs 7,500 each. Similarly, the beast boxers from both Men’s and Women’s categories will get a motorcycle and a scooter, respectively.
Also, the best boxers in the men’s and women’s categories will get a motorcycle and a scooter, respectively.
The tournament organised by the Bir Ganesh Man Singh Foundation will conclude on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
