Sinkholes have appeared at Armala VDC of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan-28 in Kaski district with the monsoon season. The locals are afraid of possible disaster caused by sinkholes.
Some of the houses and basic needs at the village are on risk due to various sizes of sinkholes that are occurring with the incessant rainfall.
In the similar incident a year and half ago, dozens of families had to leave their homes at Khahare of the same VDC due to sinkholes occurrence.
Around 18 sinkholes have been witness in the area this year, according to Armala Disaster Management Committee.
The study had identified Pokhara as delicate place in terms of land composition, according to the Department of Geology (1998). Some of the places in Pokhara are fragile and are not fit for human settlement, according to the study.
A dozen of sinkholes were witnessed at Baidam and Lakeside in Pokhara, last year.
