Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club and Region No. 5 (Nepalgunj) have won their respective matches in the ongoing Senior One-Day National Cricket Tournament on Monday, March 9, 2015.
In the match held at TU Ground, Army beat Region No. 1 (Biratnagar) by two wickets to seal a victory.
Biratnagar was restricted to 191 runs in 47.4 overs. Jugal Chaudhary scored highest 43 runs, Manjeet Shrestha 37 runs, Lakpa Lama 29 runs, Sunny Pun 26 runs and Puspa Thapa 17 runs.
Jitendra Mukhiya alone grabbed four wickets while Avinash Karn and Rahul Vishwakarma took two wickets each for winner. Mukhiya also won Player-of-the-match.
Army chased down the target in 43 overs scoring 192 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Mahesh Chettri and Anil Mandal made half-centuries as they scored 61 runs and 54 runs respectively.
Similarly, Rajesh Pulami contributed 31 runs and Sunam Gautam 11 runs.
Siddhant Lohani had claimed four wickets for Biratnagar.
In another match of the day held at Institute of Engineering Ground, Pulchowk, Nepalgunj defeated Region No. 2 (Birgunj) by eight wickets.
Birgunj scored 198 runs losing all its wickets in 41.1 overs after winning the toss. Suraj Prasad Kurmi scored 44 runs, Rabi Thapa 43 runs, Ramnaresh Giri 38 runs Amit Shrestha 26 runs and Aanshu Kandoi 23 runs.
Aakash Bista took four wickets while Avinash Bohara and Amar Singh Routela were named for two wickets each for winner Nepalgunj.
In reply, Nepalgunj met the target of 199 runs in 34 overs for the loss of two wickets as Prajwal Shahi scored nearly a century (96 runs off 87 balls) and Shubendu Pandey recorded a half-century with 58 runs. Shahi was declared Player-of-the-match.
