Sankata Club has lifted the title of the Ruslan 8th Simara Gold Cup on Saturday, February 11, 2017.
In the final match held at Simara Stadium, Sankata defeated Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) 4-2 in penalty shootout.
The match was forced to spot-kick as it ended at 1-1 draw in the regular and additional time. Sankata’s Amit Tamang was announced the man of the match.
Sankata defeated Bijay Youth Club 2-1 while Army Football team registered 2-1 win against Himalayan Sherpa Club in their respective semi-final matches to meet in the final clash.
With the title, winner Sankata won Rs 551,000 while Army had to satisfy for 251,000 cash prize.
Sankata’s goalkeeper Binaya Shrestha was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament. He won a motorbike.
