Rupandehi XI has won the title of the Tuborg 2nd Nepalgunj Gold Cup Football Tournament on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Rupandehi XI defeated CMG Club Sankata on sudden death in the final match held at Nepalgunj Stadium to clinch the title.
With the title, Rupandehi XI also won the cash prize of Rs 500,000 while the runner-up Sankata had to satisfy for Rs 251,000.
The match was forced for sudden death after it ended with 1-1 draw in the regular time and 4-4 in tie-breaker.
Rupandehi’s Amar Dangol received a motorbike as the best player of the tournament. Similarly, African recruit Musa and Gaurab were announced the best defender and best midfielder.
Likewise, Sankata's Ajay Maharjan and Martins were won the best goalkeeper and striker, respectively and Salyan Khadgi of the same team the best coach. All the best players and best coach got Rs 5000.
Altogether, eight teams were in the title fray organised by Banke District Football Association.
