Nepal Police’s Shyantu Shrestha and Alina Maharjan have won gold medals at Samjhana Cup Open Table Tennis Tournament on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
In the Boy’s Singles final held at national Table Tennis Training Center, Lainchaur, Shyantu beat APF’s Chandan Shahi 11-6, 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 to clinch gold. He had also won gold medal in Junior Boy’s Singles and Sonu Thapa Magar won in Junior Girl’s Singles.
Similarly, Alina also beat Nepal Army’s Rabina Maharjan 11-3, 23-21, 9-11, 11-7, 11-7 in Girl’s Singles to win gold medal.
Meanwhile, Naresh Rawal and Panna Kaji Shakya won gold medals in Veteran Above-40 and Above-50, respectively.
Former governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Himalaya SJB Rana along with Olympian Sangina Vaidya handed over the prizes to the winners.
The winners in Men/Women Singles received the cash prize of Rs 20,000 while runner-ups got Rs 10,000 and third place Rs 3,000 each. The tournament was organised by Nepal Veteran Table Tennis Association.
