Nepal Police’s Shyantu Shrestha and Armed Police Force (APF) Sonu Thapa Magar have won the titles in Junior Singles at Samjhana Cup Open Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
In Boy’s final, Shyantu beat Liverpool’s Ritij Joshi 11-5, 11-6, 11-5 while Sonu won against her departmental mate Sikka Suwal 14-12, 12-10, 8-11, 11-7 in Girl’s section.
Shyantu, the champion at 7th National Games, also defeated APF’s Bilosh Shrestha 11-8, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 in senior level to enter semi-final.
Similarly, Nepal Army’s Mani Kumar Lama beat Police’s Pradip Roka 11-9, 11-7, 11-6, 11-8, APF’s Chandan Shahi won over its departmental mate Siva Kumar Gothe 11-7, 8-11, 14-12, 11-9, 11-8 and APF’s Amar Lal Malla thrashed Liverpool’s Narayan Ghimire 11-2, 11-6, 11-4, 12-10 to advance to semis berth.
Meanwhile, Punya Poudel, Uday Mohan Shrestha and Sushil Jung Rana have finished first, second and thired, respectively in Veteran Above-60 Men’s Singles.
In Veteran Above-40 Women’s Singles, Indira Poudel Parajuli, Samjhana Pokhrel and Sabita Basnet secured the first top three sports, respectively.
The winners in Men/Women Singles will get the cash prize of Rs 20,000 while runner-ups will get Rs 10,000 and third place will receive Rs 3,000 each. The tournament organised by Nepal Veteran Table Tennis Association will conclude on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
