Nepal Police Club (NPC) has registered second victory in a row after defeating Eastern Region by nine wickets in the third day of the 1st Prime Minister Cup Cricket Tournament on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
Police had beaten Far-Western Region by seven wickets in its first match of the One-Day Tournament on Wednesday while this is the second straight defeat for Eastern Region as it had lost to Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) by nine wickets in the inaugural match on Tuesday.
In the match held TU International Cricket Ground, Police easily met the target of 105 runs in 17.1 overs with the loss of a wicket as player of the match Sunil Dhamala made half-century with 52 runs while Dilip Nath contributed 36 runs.
In the first inning, Eastern Region was all out just for 104 runs in 37.1 overs of the allotted 50 overs. Mehaboob Alam’s 40 runs went in vain after defeat. Siddhant Lohani claimed three wickets while Sushil Kandel and Lalit Bhandari took two wickets each for winner.
Group A - Armed Police Force (APF), Western Region, Central Region, Mid-western Region
Group B - Tribhuvan Army Club, Eastern Region, Far-western Region, Nepal Police Club
The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 2 million while the runner-up will get Rs 1 million. Similarly, the two semi-finalists will receive Rs 50,000 each.
The man of the series will be awarded with Rs 100,000 while best batsman and bowler will get Rs 50,000 each. Likewise, the emerging player will get Rs 25,000 while man-of-the-match will be given Rs 5,000 in every match.
