The departmental teams – Nepal Police Club (NPC) and host Armed Police Force (APF) – have entered the semi-final of the 4th APF IGP National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
In the match held at APF court in Halchowk, Kathmandu, Police won against Nepal Army and Western Region. Police beat Army in 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 sets in its first match and Western Region in 25-12, 25-19, 25-21 straight sets in second match.
Similarly, defending champion APF defeated New Diamond Academy to make it to semis berth. Though host had lost the first 22-25 set, it won last three sets 25-12, 25-23, 25-23 to make the end in its side.
APF’s Saraswoti Chaudhary was declared woman of the match. New Diamond, one of the semi-finalists will meet Police in the semis berth.
New Diamond Academy had defeated Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center in 25-9, 25-16, 25-11 sets to make it to semi-final on Monday.
APF, New Diamond and Jawalakhel are in Group A while Nepal Police Club, Western Region and Tribhuvan Army Club are in Group B.
Defending champion had also registered 3-0 victory against Jawalakhel in the inaugural match on Sunday. Under the captainship of Jyoti Chaudhary, APF secured 25-20, 25-9, 25-12 easy straight wins.
The winner will get the cash prize of Rs 250,000 while runner-up will receive Rs 125,000 and third place Rs 50,000. The best performers in different categories will also get Rs 5,000 each.
