New Diamond Academy and Armed Police Force (APF) made flying start at the Third NVA National Women's and Men's Club Volleyball Championship that kicked off at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall, Tripureshwar on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
New Diamond defeated Tribhuvan Army Club (TSC) in three straight sets with scores 25-11, 25-14, 25-16 while APF secured easy win over Kavre District Volleyball Association with scores 25-5, 25-8, 25-3.
Meanwhile, Mani Mukunda Volleyball Club of Rupandehi and Dhorpatan Sports Training Center started winning in the men’s category. Mani Mukunda registered 25-12, 25-17, 25-18 scores win against Kavre.
Similarly, Dhorpatan beat Budhanilakantha Volleyball Association 3-1with the scores 25-23, 25-14, 27-25.
The tournament is featuring 12 teams in men’s and nine in women’s section. The tournament is being held under league-cum-knockout format.
The winners of both the category will bag Rs 150,000 while the runner-ups will get Rs 70,000. Likewise, the best players in five different categories will get Rs 5,000 each.
Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripali had inaugurated the tournament amidst a function.
Meanwhile, Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) has appointed Ranjan Khadka as its vice president.
