Nepal’s Taekwondo player Bikram Shrestha has won bronze medal in the eighth World Para-Taekwondo Championship in Antalya, Turkey on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
In the P32 Poomsae Singles, Shrestha finished third after 20-7 defeat against Russian opponent Andrai Gravoski in the U-30 category semi-final.
After getting a bye in the first round, Shrestha had beat Morocco’s Bilal Khattavi 6-5 to enter the semis berth, according to Coach Kabiraj Negi Lama.
Lama also claimed that this is the first ever international medal in Para-Poomsae for Nepal. Russia won the gold while Croatia got silver in the Championship.
Altogether, 425 players from 69 countries are competing in the Championship and it is a part of election tournament for the 32nd Summer Olympics scheduled to be held in Japan in 2020.
