Nepal has clinched silver medals in the 2nd South Asian Men/Women Regu Sepak Takraw Championship held at St. Joseph’s College, in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on January 15 and 16, 2017.
Nepali squad has arrived home after winning silver medals in all four categories – Men/Women Regu and doubles Sepak Takraw (kick volleyball) on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
Nepali Men’s players include – Anil Gurung (captain), Alen Gurung, Rupesh Sunar and Roshan Tamang while Women’s players are – Som Maya Magar (captain), Sumitra Dongol, Chandra Chaudhary and Swastika Shrestha.
Altogether, five South Asian Sepak Takraw Association (SASTAF) member nations – Nepal, host Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan – had competed in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Nepal will host the 3rd edition of the Championship in 2018 as per the fourth meeting of the South Asia apex body of Sepak Takraw chaired by Sitaram Maskey, chairman of the Association. The first edition was also held in Nepal.
