Nepal Police’s Shyantu Shrestha and Nabina Shrestha clinched the titles of the 2nd Samjhana Cup National Open Table Tennis Championship held at Table Tennis Training Centre Lainchour, Kathmandu on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.
Shyantu was the champion of Men’s Singles while Nabina won in Women’s Singles category. Shyantu defeated his club mate Binesh Khaniya 11-6, 13-11, 11-5, 11-6 straight sets while Nabina thrashed Amy’s Dikshya Tamang 11-3, 11-7, 11-8, 11-6 straight sets.
Nepal Army’s Krishna Thapa Magar stood third defeating APF’s Sunil Maharjan 4-1 in Men’s category while Army’s Swechha Nembang beat her team mate Rabina Maharjan 4-2 to win bronze.
All the winners of both the categories bagged Rs 50,000, 25,000 and 12,500 cash prizes, respectively. The three-day tournament organised by Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association had total 350 competitors in ten different categories.
