Nepal has advanced the final of the First SAFF U-19 Championship 2015 on Thursday, August 27, 2015.
Nepal defeated Afghanistan 3-2 in the first semi-final match to enter the final held at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur.
Nepal had led the match 2-0 through the scores from Anjan Bista in the first half. Bista netted his first goal in the 34th minute and added another in the 39th minute in a penalty.
Similarly, Sunil Bal made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute in a free kick. Nepal gifted a goal to Afghanistan in the 50th minute as Ananta Tamang netted in an own post while Afghan Mehdi Rezayee’s scored to make 3-2 in the 72nd minute.
Now, Nepal will take on the winner between India and Bangladesh in the final match. India and Bangladesh will take on each other in the second semi-final match later today.
Nepal had finished first place in the group stage matches as it secured 3-1 victory against Bhutan and 2-1win over Bangladesh under Group A. Afghanistan had enterd the semis round after win over Maldives 3-1 and India 2-0 under Group B.
