Nepal National Women Football Team has defeated Iran 3-0 in its last league match of the ongoing Hero Women’s Gold Cup Football Tournament at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
Nepal has also strengthened its possibility to qualify for the final of the tournament. Sabitra Bhandari scored two goals in the 79th and 89th minute while Anita Basnet had scored an opener in the 41st minute.
Now, Nepal has to wait for the match between India and Myanmar to decide Nepal’s entry in the final of the tournament.
Nepal is competing with three nations – Myanmar, Iran and host India – in head-to-head women’s football.
Nepal is ranked at 108th spot in FIFA Ranking, lowest ranked team in the tournament. Myanmar is the highest ranked nation with a FIFA Ranking at 44th place, while Iran is ranked at 60th and India at 62nd position.
