Nepali National Cricket team has defeated local Himalchal Pradesh team by five wickets in a friendly match in a friendly match held at Dharamsala Cricket Ground, India on Sunday, June 14, 2015.
Nepal is in India for 15-day tour as part of the preparation prior to the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers scheduled for July 3 to 26, 2015 in Ireland and Scotland. The tour is organised by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
As Nepal chose to field first after winning the toss, Himanchal Pradesh posted 144 runs for the loss of seven wickets in allotted 20 overs.
Raghav Dhawan scored a half-century (54 runs) while Abhimanyu Rana made 21 runs, Nakul Raj 20 runs, Amit Kumar 19 runs and Amit Thankur 12 runs. Basant Regmi claimed three wickets while Sompal Kami and Jitendra Mukhiya took a wicket each.
In reply, Nepal met the target of 144 runs for the loss of five wickets as Subash Khakurel scored 29 runs, Sagar Pun and Pradeep Airee batted 23 runs each and Sharad Vesawkar 17 runs. Similarly, Nepal’s skipper Paras Khada and Binod Bhandari made 7 runs each.
Akash Sharma grabbed three wickets while Dhawan and Gurwinder Singh took a wicket each for Himanchal Pradesh. Nepali team is scheduled to return home on June 20 after the preparation.
Nepal has been drawn alongside defending champion Ireland, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Namibia, USA and Jersey in Group A while Afghanistan, UAE, Netherlands, Scotland, Canada, Kenya and Oman are in Group B.
The top six teams from the Qualifiers will join the 10 full members of the ICC World Twenty20 that is scheduled to be held in India from March 11 to April 3, 2016, according to ICC.
