National Banking Institute Ltd. (NBI) has conducted the very first convocation of Nepal’s first professional banking certification course titled JANBI - Junior Associated NBI - in Kathmandu on March 10, 2017.
Governor Dr. Chiranjibi Nepal handed out the certification to successful JANBI candidates, according to the press statement issued by NBI on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
Under the course, the banking professionals will study Principles of Banking, Accounting and Finance for bankers and legal and regulatory requirement for Nepali banks.
NBI conducts the exams twice a year through the nation and so far more than 1,000 banking professionals have registered for the course.
On the occasion, Sanjib Subba, CEO of NBI informed that JANBI is a basic requirement for everyone working in the BFIs.
“This basic course will give bank employees a solid base on which they can step to take on further advanced courses such as CANBI and other professional certification courses.”
Subba also urged the regulator and bank executives to consider making JANBI a mandatory course for everyone in the industry.
Addressing the convocation Ajay Shrestha, Chairman of NBI pointed out the importance of courses like JANBI for existing bank employees and how such professional certification would help them grow their career in the industry.
Next JANBI examination will be held in June of 2017, according to NBI.
