Rupandehi XI has set final clash with Morang XI in the 4th Udaypur Gold Cup on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Rupandehi XI beat Himalayan Sherpa Club 3-2 in the semi-final match held at Tharuhat Stadium, Gaighat on Tuesday, February 14.
Deepak Rai scored two goals and Amar Dongol a goal for Rupandehi while Biswas Shrestha and Alex had scored for Himalayan Sherpa. Rai was adjudge man of the match and received Rs 5,000.
Rupandehi had led the match through a score from Dongol in the 20th minute while Rai made it 2-0 in the 37th minute.
Shrestha had given some relief and confident to make a comeback in the game as he made 1-2 in the 83rd minute but went in vain after Rai’s another score in the injury time. Alex had added another consolation for Sherpa.
Morang XI Football Club had defeated Sankata Club 2-1 to enter the final of the Udaypur Gold Cup on Monday, February 13, 2017.
The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 200,000 while runner-up will get Rs 100,000.
Altogether, eight teams – Armed Police Force, Sankata Club, Dharan Football Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club, Morang Football Club, Jhapa XI, Rupandehi XI and host Udaypur – had competed in the tournament.
