Morang XI Football Club has reached the final of the 4th Udaypur Gold Cup on Monday, February 13, 2017.
In the match played at Tharuhat Stadium, Gaighat, Morang beat Sankata Club 2-1 to advance the final of the Cup. Sankata had won the title of Ruslan 8th Simara Gold Cup in February 11.
Bhuwan Basnet and Mikchan Tamang scored a goal each for Morang. Though the match ended in goalless draw in the first half, winner took a lead in the 69th minute and Tamang doubled the tally within the five minutes of the first score.
Sajin Thapa had scored a consolation for Sankata in the 83rd minute. Morang’s Basnet won the man of the match.
The club from Eastern Nepal will take on the winner between Rupandehi XI and Himalayan Sherpa Club.
The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 200,000 while runner-up will get Rs 100,000.
Altogether, eight teams – Armed Police Force, Sankata Club, Dharan Football Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club, Morang Football Club, Jhapa XI, Rupandehi XI and host Udaypur - are competing in the tournament.
