Manang Marshyandi Club (MMC) has clinched the title of 2nd Jhapa Gold Cup defeating host Jhapa XI 1-0 in the final at Domalal Ground on Monday, February 6, 2017.
A single goal of Olawale Afeez in the 63rd minute proved to be match winning score for Manang.
This is the third title for MMC in this season as it had won the titles of Far-West Kaptad Gold Cup and Rara! Aaha Gold Cup, earlier. MMC was also in the final of the Tuborg Hetauda Gold Cup but failed against Army on January 7, 2017.
MMC had entered the semis berth defeating Tribuvan Army Club (TAC) 1-0 while Jhapa had thrashed Himalayan Sherpa Club 4-0 to make it to the final.
With the title, Manang won Rs 700,000 while runner-up Jhapa XI had to satisfy for Rs 350,000. MMC’s Rohit Chand was adjudged the most valuable player. Chand won a motorbike.
At the concluding function, Jhapa’s Alen Neupane, Devendra Tamang and Ranjit Shrestha were announced the best goal keeper, best defender and the beat mid-fielder, respectively. Similarly, host Jhapa won fair play award.
