Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) has felicitated the Nepalis medalists at the 6th Tirak Taekwondo International Championship 2016 amidst a function in Satdobato, Lalitpur on October 28, 2016.
Nepal had won a gold medal, two silver and four bronze medals at the Championship held from October 23 and 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ranjeet Mahato won a gold medal in men’s 80kg to 89kg weight category. He claimed gold defeating Pakistan’s Saeid Sadakat with 7-2. Similarly, Dhan Bahadur Darai won silver medal in 80kg category.
Likewise, Parbati Gurung had to satisfy for silver after being defeated by Thai player in the final in women’s 49kg category. Gurung had won over Oman’s player to advance to the final of the tournament.
Among the bronze medalists, Sudip Giri in men’s 74kg, Mohamad Kalim in 63kg and Mohamad Umer Khan, and Anuma Tamang in women’s 42kg were also honoured at the same function.
All the winners are from Chitwan. Gold medalist got Rs 15,000 while silver and bronze medalists received Rs 10,000 and 5,000 each, respectively.
Altogether, 16 nations had participated in the Chapionship, said coach Roshan Khan.
