Nepal’s Laxmi Magar has won the “Holidays Rumble in the Jungle 2017” – a mountain bike stage race – held in Sri Lanka from June 13 to 16, 2017.
Magar completed the four-day mountain bike race (272km) in 20 hours, 20 minutes and 18 seconds to clinch the first place, according to National Sports Council (NSC). Magar win the title in Open Female category.
Similarly, French national Claire Demarquet finished second with the timing 21 hours, 39 minutes and 11 seconds and host Sri Lanka’s P.A.S Priydarshini won third place clocking 22 hours, 53 minutes and 4 seconds while nother contestant of Nepal Usha Khanal was fourth with 23 hours, 22 minutes and 3 seconds.
Magar had also finished second position in the last edition (18 to 39 age category) with a timing 16 hours, 41 minutes and 27 seconds. Hannah Barnes of America had completed first position with 15 hours, 39 minutes and 23 seconds.
The race that started from Kuda Oya passed through muddy jungle trails, rocky jeep roads, tea plantations, steep concrete climbs, sealed sections, high mountain plateaus, river crossings, waterfalls and ended in Kandy.
