Anish Khaling Rai, who hails from Sankhuwasabha district, has returned home after being jailed for nearly three years on the murder charge in the UAE.
Khaling, 26, was arrested on October 25, 2012 for the murder charge of a Pakistani man. Then Khaling was given a death sentence on July 5, 2013.
Khaling who returned home on Wednesday shared that in the course of self-defense against sexual attempts from Pakistani workers, one of them died. “It was not intentional”, he shares.
During the “Save Anish Khaling” campaign on Thursday, Khaling also thanked all for their support.
Around Rs 30 million was raised from the campaign to save Khaling while the Pakistani's family had demanded around Rs 8 million in blood money.
However, the UAE government had already paid the blood money after Khaling was proved innocence, according to campaigner.
