Kathmandu Goldens has secured seven wickets victory against Mahendranagar United in the fifth match of the ongoing Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL-3) at Fapla International Cricket Ground, Dhangadhi, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
With the victory against Mahendranagar, Kathmandu Goldens registered two wins in the tournament as it had defeated Dhangadhi Stars by four wickets in the inaugural match. Similarly, this is the second defeat for Mahendranagar United after it lost to Rupandehi Challengers by two runs in the second match of the DPL-3.
As Mahendranagar United chose to field first after winning the toss, Kathmandu Goldens posted a target of 135 runs with the loss of five wickets in allotted 20 overs. Ankit Dabas made a half-century with the score of 65 runs while Yogendra Singh Karki contributed 22 runs, Gyanendra Malla 14 runs and Mahaboob Alam 13 runs.
Amar Rautela claimed two wickets while Abinash Bohora, Sagar Dhakal and Sarad Vesawkar took a wicket each for Mahendranagar United.
While chasing the target, Mahendranagar United was restricted to 127 runs for eight wickets as Rashid Khan alone grabbed three wickets and Dabas two wickets for winner. Nandan Kumar Yadav, Lalit Rajbanshi and Yogendra Singh Karki claimed a wicket each. Dabas was awarded with the man of the match.
Amar Rautela scored 28 runs, Vesawkar 23 runs, Aarif Sheikh 18 runs, Subramanian Anand 15 runs and Rohit Paudel 10 runs for Mahendranagar.
In another match of the day (6th match of DPL-3), Dhangadhi Stars has faced third defeat in a row in the tournament after losing to Biratnagar Kings by 21 runs. Dhangadhi Stars had lost to CYC Attariya by five wickets and Kathmandu Goldens by four wickets.
But, this was the first win for Biratnagar Kings. Kings had lost to Rupandehi Challengers by five wickets in its previous match.
The powerhouse of bowlers, Biratnagar restricted Dhangadhi Stars just to 82 runs against the target of 104 runs. Karan KC and Avinash Yadav claimed four wickets each while Susan Bhari took two wickets for winner. Sandeep Rajali and Raju Rijal had scored 34 runs and 15 runs respectively for Stars.
Dhangadhi was also witnessed powerful in its bowling as Sompal Kami and Bipin Khatri had grabbed three wickets each to restrict Biratnagar to 103 runs with nine wickets haul. Robeen Chettri and Sunil Dhamala had also taken a wicket each.
Avinash Yadav was the highest scorer for winner with 27 runs. Similarly, Karan KC made 21 runs, Aasif Sheikh 12 runs and Samsad Sheikh 11 runs for Biratnagar. KC was declared the man of the match.
