The inflow of international tourists to Nepal has increased by 73.5 percent in the month of July as compared to the same month last year.
According to Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 73,285 international visitors have visited Nepal in July. Similarly, the visitors’ record has reached 593,299, an increment by 18 percent during January to July compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the tourist arrivals from nearest neighbour India has also surged by 80.4 percent to 18,385 in July compared to the figures of the same month in 2017.
The arrival from SAARC region has registered a growth of 66.1 percent to 21,649, last month. However, the arrival from Bangladesh has plunged by 9 percent. The tourists from Asian region also recorded a growth of 86.2 percent to 20,082.
China witnessed a growth by 125.4 per cent to 13,123 while Japan and South Korea also soared by 36 percent to 1,284 and 21.9 percent to 2,415, respectively, compared to the arrival in the corresponding period, last year.
According to Department of Immigration (DoI), the tourists from the European countries increased by 54.1 percent to 14,689 in July – the visitors from Australia and New Zealand witnessed a remarkable growth of 113.9 percent to 1,741 and 75.2 percent to 205 while the visitors from the United States and Canada increased by 79.6 percent to 6,957 and 73.3 percent to 921, respectively.
