Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) has been transformed into National Examination Board (NEB) as per the Education Act (Eighth Amendment, 2016) on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
The sole higher secondary education regulator body was established under Higher Secondary Education Act, 1989.
With the new act, the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) has also ended along with the transformation of HSEB to NEB.
The chairperson of NEB will be appointed by the Cabinet as per the recommendation committee formed under the chairmanship of Public Service Commission.
The board had 425 employees. They will be integrated in the new board as per the policy.
