The Parliamentary Committee for Social Justice and Human Rights has directed the government to take initiatives to bring Colonel Kumar Lama to Nepal from the UK.
The committee also directed the government to being Lama as the Truth and Reconciliation Commission has been formed to probe into the matter of decade-long conflict era.
Colonel Lama, who has been facing violation of human rights since last two years, was arrested from his home at St Leonard-on-Sea in East Sussex.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the committee’s chairman Sushil Shrestha said the government’s failure to bring Lama would raise question on our nationality and sovereignty.
On the same occasion, Minister for Law and Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Peace and Reconstruction, Narahari Acharya, said the government has been trying its best to extradite Lama to Nepal. “The committee’s directives will be support to government to work on the issue.”
