Himalayan Sherpa Club has advanced to the semi-final of the 4th Udaypur Gold Cup Football Tournament on Friday, February 10, 2017.
Sherpa thrashed host Udaypur XI 4-1 to enter the semis berth of the tournament held at Tharuhat Stadium. Similarly, Sankata Club had beat Dharan Football Club 3-1 to enter the semis round on Thursday.
Sherpa had also entered the semis at Ruslan 8th Simara Gold Cup. It was defeated by Nepal Army team 2-1.
Suraj Hamal scored an opening goal for Sherpa while Ramu Thapa had equalised the score in the 22nd minute for Udaypur and a suicide score from Laxmi Pariyar help Sherpa to lead the match by 2-1 in the first half.
In the second half, Moussa and Biswash Shrestha had contributed a goal each to register 4-1 win over Udaypur.
The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 200,000 while runner-up will get Rs 100,000.
Altogether, eight teams – Armed Police Force, Sankata Club, Dharan Football Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club, Morang Football Club, Jhapa XI, Rupandehi XI and host Udaypur - are competing in the tournament.
