Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) has started its operation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from February 10, 2015.
Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of the bank inaugurated the Representative Office of the HBL at Medan Pasar, Kuala Lumpur amidst a separate function, says bank in a press statement.
“Establishment of a Rep Office would help to boost trade between two countries and it can play a catalytic role in promoting investment areas like tourism, trade, financial services, joint ventures, franchises besides the regular remittance services,” says Shrestha.
Similarly CEO of HBL Ashoke SJB Rana also stated that the establishment of the Rep office would be a milestone to enhance the business and social relationship between two countries.
The bank has been facilitating convenient remittance service to the Nepalis workers residing in various states/cities of Malaysia through its online remittance system Himalremit since 2003.
The bank has partnership arrangement with fourteen different Malaysian local remittance companies to facilitate remittance service to Nepalis workers.
Nepalis Ambassador to Malaysia Dr. Niranjan Man Singh Basnyat, Nepalis Businessmen in Malaysia, Executives of partner remittance companies, other dignitaries, BOD members and Senior Executives of the bank were also present in the inaugural function.
