The government has waived Value Added Tax (VAT) for the car that was awarded to former captain of Nepali National Cricket team’s captain Binod Das.
The cabinet meeting on Friday, June 5, 2015, decided to waive TAX in a car that was announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to Das during his retirement from cricket in April.
Das, who was born on April 26, 1983 in Kaliaya, had retired from all formats of cricket after the Phillip Hughes Memorial Tribute Match held at TU Ground on April 11, 2015.
Das, who spent 15 years in cricket, had played his last international match during 2012 ICC World Cricket league Division IV held in Malaysia while he made his first appearance in ACC Trophy from senior team in 2000 held at Sharjha, UAE.
Former skipper Das had led the senior national team from 2005 to 2008 before handing over the captainship to Paras Khadka in 2009. Das had replaced Raju Khadka.
Das made his international debut in 1997 during the ACC U-19 Trophy held in Hong Kong. Nepal won its first international trophy of ACC U-19 Cup under Das captaincy in 2001 held in Kathmandu. Das had also led the team in 2002 ICC U-19 World Cup in New Zealand.
Das was also the assistant coach of national team during the ICC World Cricket League Division II. Das is certified with ACC Level 3 Coaching Course.
