Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat has unveiled the budget of Rs 819.47 billion for the Fiscal Year 2015/16 at the Legislature Parliament on Tuesday, July 14, 2015.
Of the total budget, Rs 484.27 billion is recurrent expenditure, Rs 288.75 billion is capital expenditure and Rs 126.33 is financial management.
The government has given high priority in the development of agriculture, infrastructure, hydropower and tourism sectors along with earthquake recovery plans in the new budget.
The government has allocated Rs 26 billion for agriculture sector and Rs 54 billion for road construction. Similarly, Rs 2 billion has been allocated for the Upper Tamakoshi Project and rs 3.37 bilion for Budhi Gandaki Hydel project.
Likewise, the budget for tourism promotion is Rs 1.01 billion and Rs 5.75 billion for upgrading airports across the country. It has also announced Rs 2.07 billion for the sports and Rs 98.64 billion for education sector.
Meanwhile, the budget has not increased the salary of the civil servants.
