The 2nd edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) T20 Cricket 2017 will be held in Kathmandu in December.
The EPL T20 2017 will feature teams from six cities - Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhairawa, Biratnagar, Birgung and Pokhara.
All the matches will be played in round robin league format at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu.
Each teams will fit 15 players including 10 players through an auction, a local player through a talent hunt, a Marquee player (optional) and obligatory three foreign players.
The winner team will bag a whopping Rs 2.1 million, a highest ever in Nepali cricket.
Nepal requires tournaments like these to help uplift the local standard of cricket and also provide platform for players to showcase their talent, said National Skipper Paras Khadka.
“With the inclusion of foreign players, the tournament is bound to provide the exposure that our players need.”
“National Sports Council (NSC) has proudly endorsed EPL and we look forward to work jointly to make EPL 2017 huge success”, Khadka added.
“It was a great day for Nepali cricket when we launched the first franchise tournament in Nepal on May 14th 2014 after Nepal had just featured in the WT20”, said National Coach Jagat Tamata.
“With the experience of the first edition behind us, we are ready to take the tournament to the next level. The inclusion of the name of cities as teams, foreign players, IPL experienced managers and vendors will all add to the charm of this year’s EPL.”
“Together, we hope to make this year’s EPL a tournament of international standards,” said EPL Founder Aamir Akhtar.
