Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba is elected as the 40th Prime Minister of Nepal on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
Deuba, who was the only contestant for PM post, secured 388 majorities out of 593 votes. NC along with Prachanda led CPN (Maoist), Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Rastriya Janata Party, and Forum Loktantrik supported Deuba.
Similarly, KP Oli led CPN-UML, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nepal Pariwar Dal were witnessed against Deuba. Though 170 constituent assembly members were against Deuba, he secured enough of 297 votes for the PM.
