UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been elected as the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.
Former rebel, Dahal, secured 363 votes in the Parliamentary Election to retain the top post for the second time. He was the only candidate in the PM race.
Dahal also became first PM and communist to hold the position for the second time after republic.
Dahal was supported by 16 parties including majorNepali Congress (NC), Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik, Rastriya Prajatanra Party among others.
Newly appointed Dahal is set to sworn in and assume office today.
