CYC Attariya has defeated Biratnagar Kings by 10 runs to enter the playoffs of the third edition of Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL-3) Monday, February 18, 2019.
With the win, Attariya has confirmed its entry at the playoffs of the League while Biratnagar crashed out of the tournament with the defeat. The defeat for Biratnagar has led Mahendranagar into the playoffs on net run rate base.
So far, Attariya is at the second place with 6 points, with one match in hand, while Mahendranagar is at the fourth with 4 points after playing all five matches. Similarly, Kathmandu Goldens which is at the top of the league’s chart has already advanced to playoffs by its third match.
Kathmandu Goldens and CYC Attariya will face each other in the last league match to decide the topper on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
Attariya had scored 148 runs losing three wickets in 20 overs. Attariya’s two of their batsmen player of the match Sunny Patel (61 runs) and Jaykishan Kolsawala (51 runs) made half-centuries. It is the first team to register two half-centuries in a same match at DPL-3.
In return, Biratnagar could make only 138 runs for the loss of wickets. Aasif Sheikh scored 39 runs, Prithu Baskota 27 runs, Avinash Yadav 14 runs, Asad Pathan 13 runs and Karan KC 12 runs. Bhuvan Karki and Dipendra Rawat had claimed three wickets each for Attariya.
Rupandehi Challengers is another team to the playoffs after beating Dhangadhi Stars by 39 runs in its last league’s match. Rupandehi is in the third place with 6 points, equal to CYC on net run difference, after the played five matches.
Dhangadi Stars was restricted just to 67 runs against the target of 107 runs set by Rupandehi Challengers. In the match reduced to 15 overs due to bad weather condition, Rupandehi scored 106 runs losing nine wickets in 15 overs. Sumit Maharjan contributed 33 runs, Binod Bhandari 24 runs, Babar Hayat 19 runs and Bikram Sob 11 runs for winner. Sompal Kami, Bipin Khatri and Pawan Sarraf had taken two wickets each for Dhangadhi.
Dhangadi which was already crashed out of the tournament could chase up to only 67 runs. Dhangadi was all out by 14 overs. Sarraf scored 15 runs, Kami 11 runs and Sandeep Rajali 10 runs. Lalit Bhandari claimed three wickets while player of the match Bikram Sob took two wickets for Rupandehi.
