Jhamsikhel Youth Club (JYC) and Tushal Youth Club (TYC) have won their respective matches in the inaugural day of Martyr’s Memorial ‘B’ Division League 2019 that kicked off at the ANFA Complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur, on Friday, February 8, 2019.
In the opening match of the League, Jhamsikhel Youth defeated Boys Union Club (BUC) 1-0 through a score from Alish Lungeli in the 39th minute. Boys Union had also got an opportunity to level the score in the 70th minute, but Jhamsikhel’s goalie Subash Magar blocked the penalty of Susan Lama.
Similarly, Tushal Youth also registered 1-0 victory against Shree Bhagwati Club (SBC). A single goal from Alon Rai in the 22nd minute proved to be match winning score for Tushal.
The League was inaugurated by Chir Babu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City amidst a special ceremony. The next matches will be held on Sunday, according to organiser All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
Altogether, 12 ‘B’ Division Clubs will vie in the tournament. These clubs are divided in two Groups – A & B.
Group A - Jhamsikhel Youth Club, RCT, Shree Kumari Club, Satdobato Youth Club, Nayabasti Youth Club and Boys Union Club.
Group B - Tusal Youth Club, Pulchowk Sports Club, Madhyapur Youth Association, Khumaltar Yuba Club, Bansbari Club and Shree Bhagwati Club.
The prize money for the winner club is set at Rs 800,000 while the runner-up will receive Rs 500,000, according to ANFA. Similarly, the third place and fourth place will bag Rs 300,000 and Rs 200,000, respectively.
The estimated cost for organising the tournament is Rs 15 million. ANFA has also provided Rs 700,000 each as preparation to each club.
