The imports of automobiles has increased by 29 percent in the fiscal year 2014/15 compared to the fiscal year 2013/14.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, Nepal has imported the vehicles worth Rs 29.9 billion last year compared to previous year’s 23.1 billion.
Of the total amount, the country imported 12,573 cars, jeeps and vans worth Rs 8.94 billion during the period while it had brought 11,405 worth Rs 6.94 billion the previous year.
Similarly, Nepal imported motorcycle and scooter worth Rs 8.29 billion as compared to Rs 8.19 billion, previously. The bus and truck worth Rs 6.81 billion was imported last fiscal year against previous year’s Rs 4.40 billion.
