Prafulla Maharjan of Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) has clinched the title of the U-17 Boy’s Singles at the 13th Nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Championship on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
In the final match held at APF Headquarter Court, Halchowk, Maharjan beat Armed Police Force (APF) Prince Dahal 12-21, 25-23, 21-17 to claim the title.
In Over-35 Masters Men’s Doubles, Nepal Police Club (NPC) duo Ganesh Chand and Krishna Siwakoti won over APF’s pair Narayan Datta Poudel and Raju Newpane with 21-18, 21-18.
The Tamang siblings Ratnajit Tamang and Nangshal Tamang registered 21-16, 21-13 win over APF’s pair Indra Bahadur Mahat and Puja Shrestha in Mixed Doubles.
Similarly, Annapurna badminton Club’s Shyam Parajuli and Nabin Babu Shrestha defeated the duo Suvash Shrestha and Bhumi bahadur Gurung in Over-45 Veteran Doubles to win the title.
Meanwhile, National shuttler from Army Club Ratnajit Tamang has advanced to the final of the Men’s Singles after defeating APF’s Prince Dahal 21-10, 21-14 while Army’s Nabin Shrestha beat Police’s Gautam Kathayet 21-13, 21-14 to enter final berth.
In Women’s Singles, Nangshal Tamang and Sikshya Shrestha of APF have set final encounter after winning their respective semis matches. Tamang beat her departmental mate Anumaya Rai by 21-13, 21-10 while Shrestha past over Army’s Megha Chand with 21-21-18 win.
Duo Ratnajit and Nabin had also secured final berth after defeating their departmental mates Suraj Maharjan and Ram Rai while APF’s Bijit Thapa Magar and Bishal Pradhan also beat Suman Limbu and Sudip Sedhai pair to make it to the final round with Tamang’s duo.
