Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) has lifted the title of the 4th Jhapa Gold Cup 2075 held at Doma Lal Rajbanshi Stadium in Birtamode, Jhapa, on Monday, March 11, 2019.
Army defeated Jhapa XI 5-3 in the final match to defend the title for third time while it is the fourth straight defeat for hosts Jhapa in the final match. Similarly, this is the third title for Army in this season as it has also won Birgunj Gold Cup and Itahari Gold Cup.
With the title, Army bagged cash prize of Rs 1.250 million while runner-up Jhapa had to satisfy for Rs 605,000.
Dilen Loktam of Jhapa XI was awarded with the most valuable player of the tournament. He received a motorbike. NIshan Khadka of Jhapa also won the emerging player of the tournament.
Nepal Army’s Bikash Kuthu was the best goalkeeper while Jhapa’s Devendra Tamang was the best defender. Similarly, Pujan Uperkoti of Jhapa was announced best mid-fielder and Nawayug Shrestha of Army as highest scorer award.
Altogether 10 teams - host Jhapa XI, Tribhuvan Army Club, Armed Police Force Club, Manang Marshyangdi Club, Three Star Club, Morang XI Football Club, Rupandehi Football Club, Dauphins (Cameroon), and Nepalese Academy from Hong Kong – have competed in the tournament.
