Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) has started to dominate in the 2nd Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) National Men’s Volleyball Tournament that kicked off at Army Covered Hall, Lagankhel, Lalitpur, on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Hoat Army defeated its departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) in three straight sets – 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 in the inaugural match of the tournament. The six-day tournament was inaugurated by General Rajendra Chhetri.
Similarly, Nepal Police Club (NPC) beat Mid-Western Region 25-10, 25-17, 25-19 while Western Region Volleyball defeated Far-Western Region 25-16, 16-25, 26-28, 18-25. In the match between Mid-Western Region and Eastern Region, East secured 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 straight sets win.
Altogether, eight teams from five development regions and three departmental teams – Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Armed Police Force (APF) are in the title fray, informed Sports Department Chief Lt Col Ram Kaji Rana Magar.
The winner team will bag Rs 300,000 while runner-up will receive Rs 150,000 and third place Rs 75,000, added Lt Col Magar.
Similarly, the best player, coach, spiker, blocker, defender and lifter of the tournament will be awarded with Rs 10,000 each. The best player of the tournament will also get a motorcycle, said Magar.
The week-long event is supported by Nepal Investment Bank. It has sponsored Rs 1.5 million to Nepal Army for the tournament.
