Armed Police Force (APF) Club has defended the title after defeating Nepal Police Club (NPC) at the 2nd APF IG National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2015 at National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall in Tripureshor, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
Host APF secured 25-21 25-18 25-23 against NPC in the final match to clinched the title for the second time.
APF women had defeated New Diamond Academy 24-26 25-12 25-15 25-19 to enter the final of the tournament while NPC defeated Western Volleyball Team 25-20 25-13 25-11.
Meanwhile, New Diamond won over Western Region -- 25-21 25-22 25-21 in the match held for third place.
With the title, APF women won Rs 250,000 while runner-up NPC women Rs 125,000 and New Diamond Rs 50,000.
APF's Nebina Chaudhary was adjudged the best player of the tournament. She also won a scooter.
Similarly, New Diamond's Pratibha Mali was declared best spiker, NPC's Ramila Tandukar best serve, NPC"S Kamala Pun best defense, APF's Saraswoti Chaudhary best blocker, APF's Binita Budhathoki best enter and APF's Kapil Kishor Shrestha best coach of the tournament. They all won Rs 5,000 each.
Altogether, 8 teams including APF and NPC along with Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), New Diamond Academy, Shree Chandeshori Youth Club (Ramechhap), Dhorpatan Sports Training Center, Western Region Volleyball Team and Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee (Dang) had competed in the Volleyball Tournament.
