Armed Police Force (APF) has registered third win in a row after defeating Region No. 8 (Pokhara) by nine wickets in the fourth day of the ongoing Senior Women’s National Cricket Tournament 2015 on Thursday, February 12, 2015.
In its previous matches, APF had secured 175 runs victory against Region No. 4 (Bhairahawa) in its inaugural and Region No. 2 (Birgunj) by 8 wickets. With the third consecutive victories, departmental team APF has accumulated 6 points to top the Group A points table.
Pokhara scored just 48 runs with the loss of four wickets though played all 40 overs at TU Ground, Kirtipur. None of the batters could make double digit scores as opener Trishna Devkota made only 9 runs, Aarati Bidari 8 runs and Shila Regmi 7 runs.
Rubina Chhetri claimed two wickets while Binu Budhamagar took a wicket for winner APF. Chettri was declared the Player-of-the-Match.
In return, APF women easily chased down the target at 5.2 overs with the loss of a wicket. Opener Madhu Thapa scored 25 runs and Sita Rana Magar 14 runs. Saru Rajbhandari had taken a wicket for Pokhara.
Meanwhile, Region No. 2 (Birgunj) defeated Bhairahawa by five wickets in another match held at Engineering Ground, Pulchowk.
With the win, Birgunj registered second win from the played three matches under the Group A of the tournament. The team had won against Pokhara by two wickets in its opener, however, lost to mighty APF in its second encounter.
Birgunj is at the second spot of the Group A points table with 4 points, behind APF.
Bigunj met the target at 10.2 overs for the loss of five wickets scoring 43 runs. However, the double digit scorer was only Mamta Chaulagai as she made 12 runs while the winner was awarded 18 runs as extras.
Indu Berma had taken two wickets for Bhairahawa.
In the first innings, Bhairahawa could make meager target of 43 overs losing all its wickets at 18.2 overs. Bhairahawa's batters could not stand long as all 10 had to leave the crease scoring a single digit.
Player-of-the Match Pushpa Arya grabbed four wickets while Puja Giri and Rojina Aryal claimed two wickets each for winning Birgunj.
Region No. 9 (Dhangadi) and Region No. 5 (Nepalgunj) will take on each other at TU Ground while Region No. 1 (Biratnagar) will face Region No. 7 (Janakpur) at Pulchowk on Friday. Both the matches will be held under Group B.
