Defending Champion Armed Police Force (APF) and New Diamond Academy have made it to the semi-finals of the third edition of Didi-Bahini Cup National Women’s Volleyball Championship that kicked off in Kusma, Parbat, on Monday, February 11, 2019.
The departmental team APF has entered the semis berth as Group A winner and New Diamond Academy as Group B winner.
APF defeated its departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Gandaki Province by 3-0 each straight sets to lead the Group A. In its first match, APF registered 25-7, 25-23, 25-25 straight sets victory and 25-7, 25-13, 25-19 straight sets against Gandaki.
Another semifinalist from Group A will be decided from the match between Nepal Army and Gandaki Province scheduled for Tuesday.
Similarly, New Diamond Academy thrashed Nepal Police Club (NPC) 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 to advance to the semi-final of the Championship. Despite losing the match, Police has entered the semis berth as Group B runner-up and will face Group A winner APF to make it to the final round.
Altogether five teams including three departmental teams – Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Armed Police Force along with New Diamond Academy and Gandaki Province – are competing in the three-day tournament.
The winner prize money is set at Rs 200,000 while runner-up is fixed at Rs 100,000 and third place prize is Rs 50,000. The best player of the tournament will receive Rs 10,000. Similarly, in personal category under best spike, best quicker, best server, best center, best defender and best coach are also set to get Rs 5,000 each.
