Armed Police Force (APF) has felicitated its 33 players of different sports categories with “Most Valuable Players” and “Player of the Year 2073”.
Inspector General Durja Kumar Rai honoured six players with “Most Valuable Players” amidst a function at APF Headquarter, Halchowk, Kathmandu, on Sunday, January 8, 2017.
The honoured players include - karate’s Sunil Lama, boxing’s Saraswoti Rana and Purna bahadur Lama, volleyball’s Saraswoti Chaudhary, football’s Ranjan Bista and Anjan Bista. Karate’s Deepak Shrestha was declared best coach at the same function.
Similarly, men’s football Milan Rai, women’s football Anita Basnet, men’s volleyball Mahendra Shrestha, women’s volleyball Binita Budhathoki, men’s badminton Bishal Pradhan, women’s badminton Sikshya Shrestha, men’s cricket Basanta Regmi and women’s cricket Karuna Bhandari were announced the “APF Player of the Year”.
Likewise, in men’s handball, boxing, karate and taekwondo Manoj Thagunna, Puran Rai, Bijay Lama and Bharat Bohara won the “APF Player of the Year” respectively. In women’s category, Uma Rai, Mala Rai, Anu Adhikari and Apsara Karki won the same titles, respectively.
Mangal Prasad Tharu (men’s wushu), Sushmita Tamang (women’s wushu), Gobinda Parki (men’s athlete), Kanchimaya Koju (women’s athlete), Siva Sundar Gothe (men’s table tennis), Selikha Khadki (women’s table tennis), Shyam Krishna Shrestha (ITF taekwondo) and Devika Khadka (Judo) – were also declared the “APF Player of the Year.”
