Armed Police Force (APF) Club has lifted the title of the Senior Women’s National Cricket Tournament for the fourth straight time on Saturday, February 21, 2015.
In the final match held at TU Ground, Kirtipur, APF Club defeated Region No.7 (Janakpur) by seven wickets to clinch the title for the fourth time.
While chasing the target, defending champion APF met the target at 24.3 overs scoring 100 runs with the loss of three wickets.
Jyoti Pandey scored highest 31 runs while Sarita Magar made 14 runs and Sita Rana Magar 1o runs for winner. Anuradha Chaudhary had claimed two wickets for Janakpur.
Finalist Janakpur had scored just 98/10 runs despite playing whole 40 overs. Anuradha had scored 28 runs, Mamta Chaudhary 20 runs and Roji Khadari 12 runs.
Player-of-the-match Neera Rajopadhyay alone grabbed five wickets while Rubuna Chettri took two wickets for winning team.
With the title, defending champion received Rs 50,000 while runner-up Janakpur had to satisfy for Rs 30,000. Last edition’s runner-up was Region No. 5(Nepalgunj).
Similarly, Nepalgunj’s Sanju Chaudhary was adjudged Player-of-the-Series while Region No. 1 (Biratnagar) Sangita Rai won best batswomen long with Emerging-player-of-the-Series and Janakpur’s Shanti best bowler.
Sanju got Rs 10,000 while other winners received Rs 5,000 each along trophies.
Chief Guest member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Yuvaraj Lama acting president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Deepak Koirala, vice president of CAN Keshab GhimireU, acting general secretary of CAN Uttam Kumar Karmacharya and CEO of CAN Bhawana Ghimire jointly handed over the prizes to the winners.
