Armed Police Force (APF) has defended the title of KNP National Women's Volleyball for third straight year on Friday, June 9, 2017.
In the final match held at Dasharath Stadium's Covered Hall, the departmental team APF beat its rival New Diamond Academy 3-2 competitive sets. Though New Diamond Academy managed to equalised the match in the fourth set, it lost the decisive fifth set by 15-8.
APF had led the first two sets with 25-22 and 25-18 while New Diamond made a comeback in the third and fourth sets with 25-18 and 25-18, respectively.
Armed Police had entered the final of the tournament beating its departmental mate Nepal Police Club 3-0 straight sets – 25-11, 25-20, 25-16 while New Diamond Academy defeated Western Region Volleyball Association in three straight sets by 25-22, 25-9, 25-14 points in the semis round.
In the third place match, Western Region defeated Nepal Police by 3-2. Though Police had led the match in the first set with 25-22, Western Region won the second set by 25-18. Similarly, the match was in the hand of Police in the third set 25-22 and again in the favour of Western Region in the fourth set 26-24.
Western region continued its winning streak in the fifth vital set with 15-13 to secure the third palace.
With the title, APF won Rs 150,000 as cash prize while runner-up New Diamond had to satisfy for Rs 100,000. Third place Western Region received Rs 50,000.
Meanwhile, APF's Saraswati Chaudhary was announced the best player of the tournament. Chaudhary bagged Rs 15,000.
Similarly, APF's Nebika Chaudhary, and Usha Bista won best server and best quicker while New Diamond's Pratibha Mali, Kripa Adhikari and quicker were awarded with best spiker, best setter and best libero respectively. Western Region's Punam Chand was the best blocker.
